Habitat | The soil in the Project Area is characterized as desert pavement interspersed with somewhat silty-soiled playa. The vegetation within the Project Area is typical Mojave Desert scrub dominated by creosote bush (Larrea tridentata) and white bursage (Ambrosia dumosa). Other plants include four-wing saltbush (Atriplex canescens), shadscale (Atriplex confertifolia), spiny menodora (Menodora spinescens), Nevada ephedra (Ephedra nevadensis), littleleaf ratany (Krameria erecta), common matchweed (Gutierreza sarothrae), Mojave yucca (Yucca schidigera), and cottontop cactus (Echinocactus polycephalus). Joshua tree (Yucca brevifolia) were not observed within the Project Area. The area is characterized as moderate to good desert tortoise habitat. There is no critical habitat present in the Project Area. |
